Jermal Watson

Jermal Watson
Jermal Watson, can easily be considered one of New Orleans' Lions, claiming a professional reputation few attain at such a young age. Like many of the Crescent City's most talented, Watson's musical career began early, in church, at the age of just six years old. Shortly thereafter Watson began his studies under some of New Orleans most notable rhythm masters, drummers such as Russell Batiste of the Funky Meters, Gerald French, Terrance Higgins and Raymond . Watson still dedicates his most sacred rhythms to the New Home Ministries when he is not out on the road touring nationally and internationally with bands as varied as Davell Crawford, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Vasti Jackson, Nicole Jones, Craig Adams, Eddie Roberts, and Ike Stubblefield. Watson has also performed with recording artists Dorinda Clark-Cole, Charmaine Neville, Irma Thomas, Fats Domino, Delfayo Marsalis, and Papa Grows Funk illustrating his status as one of the Crescent City's most in-demand drummers. Watson remains in demand because, in his still young career, he has managed to demonstrate a prowess and versatility rarely seen, regularly crossing the boundaries of musical genres from gospel to jazz, rhythm and blues to funk, creating musically rhythmic hybrids clearly and uniquely his own. Watson's recording credits include Your Change Is On The Way with The Life Center Cathedral, Dancing Ground with the New Orleans Rhythm Conspiracy, It's About Time Eddie Roberts West Coast Sounds, Live at Three Muses Glen David Andrews, Mainline Brass Band, Dirty Dozen Brass Band (Percussion) Mia Borders (Percussion)
